We shall regularly update you with information regarding our plans and activities in these uncertain times.
March 20th: Following instructions and recommendations from the Swiss authorities and our Bishops, we have unfortunately had to cancel all services and meetings we had planned to hold at Territet. However we are investigating replacing some of these with online events. More information will follow soon. In the meantime, stay safe !
March 21st: We have decided to maintain as many services, events and meetings as possible, replacing our usual gatherings with online activities. Our first will be our Sunday worship for Mothering Sunday, March 22nd which you can join at 10.30AM Central European time, using the following link: https://www.facebook.com/stjohnsmontreux/
You will be prompted to sign into facebook - but just ignore those messages by clinking on "later"!
March 24th: Our Mothering Sunday service was well received and encourages us to pursue this initiative. We shall therefore hold a live service every Sunday morning at 10.30 Central European time which you will be able to access by clicking here. We have also decided to use Skype for other meetings, in particular our Council meeting to be held this evening.
May 17th: We still don't know when we shall be able to hold services in our Church building. Once it becomes legal to do this, Father Paul will have the final say on the timing. We shall of course let you know as soon as possible and hope to give people the option of joining our services online, if they are unable to participate in person.
June 4th: We are delighted to inform you that services will be resumed in St John's church from June 28th. Initially, services will be in the form of said Morning Prayer, but we hope to progressively add to that base, as the situation improves. It will be a great joy to meet together to worship again and we know that some of you are very keen to do that. Others are feeling more cautious and want to stay away from church gatherings for now – and that is very reasonable and in many cases very wise. We are taking very seriously all the necessary precautions and will do our utmost to protect everyone. We have begun preparing our guidelines and will send out further practical information shortly.
It was also agreed that we will continue to live stream services for the benefit of those not in church.
